OLIVER GOSPEL MISSION AND MUNGO HOMES PARTNER FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL ‘HEART FOR THE HOMELESS HOPE-A-THON’

Columbia, SC. Oliver Gospel Mission is pleased to announce the second annual “Heart for the Homeless Hope-A-Thon" will be held Thursday, April 14th at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in downtown Columbia. With the goal of raising awareness as well as donations, proceeds from the ‘Hope-A-Thon’ will go towards sustaining current Oliver Gospel Mission programs as well as expanding efforts for future projects.

Mungo Homes is the presenting sponsor for the event for the second year. Other sponsors include WACH FOX-TV, Magic 98.5, Hudson’s Smokehouse, the Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and Verizon Wireless as the telecommunications partner.

The event will run from 6:00am to 7:00pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, located in The Vista in downtown Columbia. WACH FOX will broadcast live throughout the day, with Magic 98.5 holding radio remotes at Hudson’s Smokehouse in Lexington and Irmo. Midlands’s residents can contribute to the effort by dropping off donations at the convention center or by calling into the Verizon Wireless Phone Bank April 14th from 6am – 7pm at (803) 351-0333. Midlands’s residents can also visit olivergospelmission.org and conveniently donate online. Hudson’s Smokehouse will also be donating 10% of the day’s restaurant sales to the ‘Hope-A-Thon’ efforts.

“Last year we were blessed in that the event went off without any problems, we had great sponsors and we were able to raise a significant amount of donations for mission projects. This year we hope to build from last year’s momentum for an even bigger turnout from the Midlands community,” commented Beth Well, Director of Stewardship Services and Public Relations for the Oliver Gospel Mission. “The main point we want to convey to those considering a donation is that every single dollar we receive is put to good use, and we are just as thankful for a five dollar donation as we are for a $100 donation.”

In addition to financial support, the Oliver Gospel Mission is asking Midlands residents to consider donation of household goods and clothing items as well, which can be dropped off at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. A list of items needed, as well as more information on the ‘Hope-A-Thon’, can be found at www.olivergospelmission.org or www.MidlandsConnect.com.
