Brenna Huggins says she will never forget the day her dog, Cinnamon, left a surprise on the back porch several months ago.

"I told my mom that there was a real live deer out there," said 8-year-old Brenna.  "I think we would keep her because she's like a part of our family and stuff."

The baby deer, who they now call "Baby", has fully adapted to her domestic surroundings in Lugoff-Elgin.  Brenna' s grandfather, Don Huggins, says the deer comes to their house everyday for the food she can't find in the woods.

"She loves strawberries and so do the dogs so they fight over those," said Huggins. "We had to start her on a bottle because she was literally just born."

Brenna says Baby is the epitome of "cool."

"It's like the coolest animal because I've never a real live deer before," she said.  But Brenna worries about what will happen to Baby if she wonders too far into the woods. "She might get shot and I don't want that to happen to her," Brenna said.

For now, Baby is safe and that makes Brenna very happy. She's also the only kid on her block, except for Santa, with a real-life deer.
