BURBANK, CALIF. (AP) -- Walt Disney Studios celebrates Thanksgiving in style this year by sending characters from “Bolt” and “Toy Story” to New York City to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. 

Miley Cyrus is slated to sing “I Thought I Lost You” from the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios’ comedy “Bolt” aboard a float starring characters from the movie, which features the voices of Cyrus and John Travolta and opens in Disney Digital 3-D ä on Nov. 21, 2008. 

Meanwhile, Disney Pixar’s beloved character Buzz Lightyear goes to Herald Square and Beyond when he makes his Parade debut as a larger-than-life character helium balloon.  His appearance celebrates the return of the “Toy Story” franchise to the big screen—this time in Disney Digital 3-Dä. 

The original “Toy Story” hits theaters on Oct. 2, 2009, and ”Toy Story 2” debuts Feb. 12, 2010.  “Toy Story 3,” a brand new adventure, will be in theaters June 18, 2010.  

“Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an iconic event for families all over the world,” says Jim Gallagher, president of marketing for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. “I can think of no better way to introduce families to Disney’s newest stars from ‘Bolt,’ and celebrate one of Disney Pixar’s most beloved characters in Buzz Lightyear.” 

“The Macy’s Parade has been the launching pad for many new beautifully animated characters just waiting to leap into the hearts of fans everywhere, and this year is no exception,” says Amy Kule, producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “The addition of Bolt and Buzz Lightyear to an already stellar line-up is sure to be a highlight of the annual procession and make Bolt and Buzz Lightyear instant Parade classics.” 

Bolt and his unlikely traveling companions, Mittens the jaded cat and Rhino the TV-obsessed hamster, showcase their cross-country journey from New York to Hollywood aboard the Parade float.  Miley Cyrus, who provides the voice of Bolt’s beloved owner Penny in the movie, will be aboard the float performing “I Thought I Lost You,” an original song she recorded for the movie with co-star John Travolta. 

Buzz Lightyear goes to Herald Square and Beyond!  The larger-than-life character helium balloon measures 67 feet long, 39 feet wide and 34 feet tall and replicates the fearless space ranger from his green and purple space boots all the way up to his helmet, which is 17 feet in diameter.  In fact, Macy’s Parade Studio designers used a special fabric never before used on a Parade balloon to create the clear space helmet. 

About “Bolt”
For super-dog BOLT (voice of JOHN TRAVOLTA), every day is filled with adventure, danger and intrigue—at least until the cameras stop rolling. When the star of a hit TV show is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, he begins his biggest adventure yet—a cross-country journey through the real world to get back to his owner and co-star, Penny (voice of MILEY CYRUS).  

Armed only with the delusions that all his amazing feats and powers are real, and the help of two unlikely traveling companions—a jaded, abandoned housecat named Mittens (voice of SUSIE ESSMAN) and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino (voice of MARK WALTON) -- Bolt discovers he doesn’t need superpowers to be a hero.  Directed by Chris Williams and Byron Howard, BOLT is a hilarious, fun-filled, action-packed animated comedy adventure in Disney Digital 3-Dä.
