A FUN, SAFE PLACE FOR YOUR CHILD TO PLAY

Nita’s Petals and Parties is on a mission, aiming to use its unique facilities to combat the rising tide of childhood obesity and to provide a safe environment where children with special needs can have fun.

Childhood obesity is a growing problem in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,  obesity can put youths at risk for any number of health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma and other problems.

The CDC recommends that parents help their children maintain a healthy weight by encouraging a diet that includes fruits, vegetables and whole grains in reasonable portions. Fat and sugar intake should be limited.

It’s equally important to emphasize to your child the importance of physical activity. The CDC’s website suggests “at least 60 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity most days of the week, preferably daily.” Getting children moving--whether it’s running, dancing, playing tag or skipping rope--is half the battle.

And it’s also where Nita’s Petals and Parties can help. For more information, call (803) 331-3044, or visit www.petalsandparties.net.
