COLUMBIA (AP) -- A meeting at the University of South Carolina School of Law is exploring the intersection of law and technology.

The two-day symposium starts Thursday with a keynote address from Bill Neukom. The former Microsoft executive is also a past president of the American Bar Association and founder of the World Justice Project. Organizers say he'll talk about how the legal profession can keep up with technology.

Sessions on Friday focus on emerging trends in electronic discovery as well as technology's impact on the ethical obligations of attorneys. The symposium features six federal judges as well as Jack Halprin, head of e-discovery at Google.

Thursday's opening address is free and open to the public. You can read more about the symposium here.
