COLUMBIA (WACH) - Three teenagers were in the car with a man who police say was speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Columbia Police Department officials say Don Milton Morris, Jr., 51, is charged with driving under the influence, unlawful conduct toward a child and speeding.

According to the police report, Morris was pulled over on I-126 for "traveling at a high rate of speed" by a Columbia police officer around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The report states the officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and saw the teenage girls, who were found to be 13 years old. The officer described Morris as having slurred speech and glossy, red eyes.

The officer says in the report that Morris admitted to having "a few beers" before going to pick up the girls from Flying High in Lexington, where he was responsible for picking them up.

Morris failed the field sobriety test and was taken to the police department where he accepted a breath test and blew a .16 blood alcohol content level, which is twice the legal limit, according to the report.

Morris' license was taken by the reporting officer to be turned into the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
