Man gets 30 years in Spartanburg robbery death

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- An Inman man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in a fatal robbery last year in Spartanburg County.

Twenty-one-year-old Freddie Edwards pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of attempted murder and four counts of armed robbery.

Forty-one-year-old Ronnie Lee Metcalf was shot and killed on April 8, 2011.

Sheriff's deputies found Metcalf's body outside his home. He had been shot in the back several times. Witnesses told deputies Metcalf was shot during an altercation with Edwards and two other armed men.

One witnesses was shot in the leg.

Twenty-year-old Fred Pearson of Inman pleaded guilty in February and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Nineteen-year-old Drakkar R. Crawford of Inman pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
