COLUMBIA (AP) -- The president of BMW Manufacturing is scheduled to visit the University of South Carolina to discuss automotive manufacturing in the state.

Josef Kerscher is set to speak at the Darla Moore School of Business on Thursday. Kerscher's talk is at 6 p.m. in the Lumpkin Auditorium in the business school.

BMW has invested more than $6 billion in its Greer plant since it opened in 1994. In January, BMW announced it was adding 300 new jobs to boost production up to 300,000 vehicles by 2014.

The plant is the German automaker's first full manufacturing site outside of Germany.
