The school zone for one Midlands Elementary School may soon change, and some parents are not happy.  They're saying thanks, but no thanks to the proposal.

"Lake Carolina Elementary is probably one of the most outstanding schools in the district, if not the state," said parent Kimberley Monteanu.

Monteanu joined dozens of other concerned parents on Sunday to discuss the future of their children.  Up for consideration is rezoning students at Lake Carolina Elementary to Bridge Creek Elementary.  Monteanu says the issue is raising a lot of concern.

"Bridge Creek is a brand new school with a principal who's moving out, and an assistant principal who's moving in," said Monteanu.  "And as far as we know we have one Nationally Board Certified teacher over there."

"I don't care about living here in Lake Carolina," said parent Samuel Darko.  "I'm living here because of my children."

Parents like Darko say they've had to sacrifice to live in the exclusive area.  And the threat of having things turned upside down, isn't sitting too well.

"That is fine they can have a new school, but it does not compare to what Lake Carolina Elementary has right now."

Which according to Darko includes more than 20 Nationally Board Certified teachers.  The parents agree that if a change is to be made, they want a change in the right direction.

"I don't think it's proper," said Darko.

"We will fight it," said Monteanu.

They say it's all in an effort to keep things just as they are.

Richland School District Two is expected to consider the change for rezoning on Tuesday.
