Richland One was out promoting the importance of literacy.  Everyone from authors, actors, and poets came together in the Midlands to convey one message at Crayton Middle School, and that was "Reading Rocks."

We don't think there's anything more important than having children read and enjoy reading," said Mayor Bob Coble.

Actor and renowned choreographer Darrin Henson says giving children the support they need today, can create a better tomorrow.

"What we're doing is using the term rock as something that is affirmative; something that is strong to give information to these children about supporting their future," said Henson.

It's a future Henson and others are trying to make rock solid.

"What I tell people is if you ask more of yourself then what anyone else could ever ask of you, you'll always be prepared," said Henson.

"My wife and I have six children," said Mayor Coble.  "The role of a parent is the most important role."

It's a combined effort to put the fun back in reading.
