NATIONAL BAPTIST CONVENTION OF AMERICA, INC., INT'L TO HOST NATIONAL CONVENTION IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA

Dallas, Texas – February 5, 2013: The National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., Int’l (NBCA), a fellowship of Baptist churches, whose primary focus is on education and mission, will be hosting their annual Mid-Winter Board Meeting in Columbia, South Carolina on February 25-28, 2013. The 3 day meeting will be filled with workshops, auxiliary meetings and worship services. Rev. Stephen J. Thurston, President of NBCA will also be addressing the members of the convention at sessions throughout the week. These events will take place at the Zion Baptist Church, Columbia, South Carolina, where Rev. Kevin Donalson is pastor. On Monday evening, a Foreign Mission Banquet will be held to benefit the J.C. Sams Hospital, a hospital that NBCA built and maintains, located in Ghana, West Africa. Congressman James E. Clyburn, Representative, Sixth District of South Carolina, will be the guest speaker; along with Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy, President, The Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina, will serve as Toastmaster. The banquet will be held at Brookland Baptist Church, Dr. Charles B. Jackson, Sr., pastor. Mission outreach efforts will also be taking place within the community, as the Junior Women's Auxiliary will be feeding the homeless on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Second Nazareth MB Church. On Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 12:00 p.m., auxiliary officers within NBCA will be donating caps, gloves, men's underwear, and socks at a telethon to benefit the Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia, South Carolina.On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, educational forums will be held. Discussions will be surrounding the topics of "The Role of the Church in Dealing with Children in Poverty" and “The Church and Her Relationship with the HBCU.” These forums are open to the public to attend.NBCA’s next annual convention will be the Family Faith Fest, June 24-28, 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky.
