A display highlighting Sumter’s key assets will be held following the event from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sumter City Centre.“We are excited to celebrate this historic centennial milestone,” said Deron McCormick, Sumter’s city manager. “We are proud of Sumter for this achievement and want to share it with the community.” Sumter became the first city in the United States to successfully adopt the council-manager form of government in 1912.
