Craving some Sweet Tea?COLUMBIA, S.C. –Allow FLOREZ and Firefly to satisfy your thirst on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Elbow Room in Five Points. FLOREZ will debut its new song, Sweet Tea, while Firefly Distillery provides Sweet Tea Vodka drink specials. All proceeds from concert ticket sales and Firefly cocktails will be donated to Palmetto Health Cancer Centers.“We want to give as much to the charity as possible,” says FLOREZ member Erik Huffman, who is excited to support a local organization like Palmetto Health Cancer Centers.FLOREZ will perform live music from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Elbow Room located at 2020 Devine St. Admission to the concert is $5 at the door. Guests must be 18 or older to attend and 21 or older to be served alcohol. Firefly Distillery will sponsor the concert and is enthusiastic to help PHCC. “I believe the Firefly cocktails will be a great benefit to the charity,” says Sara Linton, Marketing Manager for Firefly Distillery. Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka cocktails will complement both FLOREZ’s new single and lyrical style.
FLOREZ, the rock, pop, soul band from Nashville, Tenn., is currently touring college towns throughout much of the East and Midwest United States. Band members include lead vocalist and guitarist Alex Florez, bassist and back up vocalist Erik Huffman and the most recent addition to FLOREZ, drummer Justin Kitchen. This trio offers a southern pop-rock groove that’s just as refreshing as a glass of
sweet tea.
The Palmetto Health Cancer Centers of Columbia is one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the Southeast, with 2,500 patients diagnosed and treated each year. Through an interdisciplinary effort, composed of physicians, researchers and health care professionals from Palmetto Health Richland, Palmetto Health Baptist, and the University of South Carolina, the Cancer Centers strive to deliver unsurpassed clinical services, conduct basic and translational research, and sponsor cancer prevention and control programs.
The Cancer Centers is approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS and CoC) as the first Network (multisite) Cancer Program in the state. The 2007 approval, Three Years with Commendation, singled out achievement in six standards of the ACoS CoC.
The Cancer Centers offer adult medical, surgical and pediatric oncology services, radiation therapy, Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery, gynecological oncology, and support programs for the patient and his/her family. Information provided by Palmetto Health. ###
