MAIN STREET OVERFLOWING WITH CREATIVE EXPRESSION NOV. 5
Columbia, SC – Frame Of Mind (FOM) Art Series continues with its “first Thursday” art festivals on Nov. 5 with a cornucopia of delicious visual delight and fresh collaboration of visual and performing arts. Artists will present their works from 6-8:30 p.m. within and in front of Frame of Mind, Gotham Bagel and The White Mule. Audiences can expect an eclectic marriage of visual, musical and performing arts.
Served up first is featured visual artist Evelyn Wong presenting her mixed media works inside Frame of Mind at 1520 Main St. Her love of nature and ancient Chinese watercolor paintings inspired a series of works which began when Evelyn was in her last two years of studying at the University of South Carolina. Wong, a native Columbian, is a mixed media artist working with charcoal, oil, synthetic paper, multi-ply papers, and colored pencil. Wong is currently working on a new series based on past experiences and emotions as a vocal performer of eleven years. Her love and fear of being on-stage, off-stage became the muse for this new, much darker set of works. An anthology of Wong's work will be available for viewing at Frame of Mind from Nov. 5 – Dec. 1.
Art goers can further indulge in an outdoor stage plating a diverse group of performing artists. Contemporary dancer Sherry Warren will pair with the eclectic, enchanting belly dancer Ashley Bennett for a one of a kind performance. Carolina Ballet and Columbia City Jazz will perform a sampling of their work. Miriam Barbosa of South Carolina Contemporary Dance Company will perform a solo piece. Vista Ballroom will be performing an exciting demonstration of dance classics. Gyrotonics Vista will also provide a demonstration. Gotham Bagel and The White Mule will add to this perfect art recipe, offering wine tasting, live jazz and swing dancing.
A block up from FOM Series November show there will be an interactive installation at the Downtown Sheraton featuring the eclectic work of Anastasia Chernoff. The first Thursday of December, December 3, FOM Series will host a Holiday Show. The show is expected to utilize the whole block on Main St., collaborations with more businesses and hot chocolate!
