Annette Thompson, Associate Travel Editor, Southern Living Associate Travel Editor Annette Thompson grew up with Southern Living. She started editing Southern Living cookbooks beginning with the original Annual Recipes in 1979. As a member of the Travel section since the mid 1990s, she has traveled and written in every state, from the Big Bend of Texas to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to the sugar sands of southwest Florida. Her gypsy nature won out during the middle of her tenure and she ran away to the beach for a few years. The allure of traveling the South and meeting its people brought her back to the home fold. The award-winning journalist is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and holds degrees in English Literature from Stetson University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In her spare time, she still loves to cook. Read her blog at Southern Living's Web site.

Charles Mattocks,“The Poor Chef” Charles began developing ideas when an innocent statement by his son over dinner one night prompted his next career move. When asked why there didn’t seem to be any “real” people on cooking shows, a light went off and Charles set out to create a new venture called "The Poor Chef,” based on the premise of creating tasty, creative and nutritious meals for two while spending less than $7. Charles' book Eat Cheap but Eat Well is in stores now. Charles was recently on The Today show. His Web site is www.thepoorchef.com. |
