You're invited to attend the 2009 “Living Green, American Dream Home Buying and Economic Empowerment Conference." The Conference will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of Richland Northeast High School and will feature dynamic seminars on budgeting and credit management, as well as home buying and repairs. There will also be informational sessions encouraging home owners to implement more energy efficient and ecologically friendly techniques.

 

Purpose 
Dynamic one day home buying, green living, and financial empowerment conference designed to give Midlands residents the tools to live more financially stable and environmentally conscious lives.

Identifying The Need
According to figures recently released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Midlands has one of the highest foreclosure rates in the entire Southeast. Additionally, our community has been identified as having air and water quality issues by S.C. DHEC.

The Conference
This conference is free and features free seminars on budget and credit repair, home improvements, green living and home buying. Moreover, the conference will feature kid-friendly seminars on saving and managing credit.

Keynote Speaker
The keynote speaker for the event is noted author and Washington Post columnist, Michelle Singletary, who is a weekly contributor to National Public Radio and MSNBC. She has an engaging style and will cover the ABC’s of money management.
