| The South Carolina Autism Society (SCAS) was founded in 1972 by parents of children with autism. It is the only statewide non-profit organization dedicated to autism programs, family support, advocacy, and research. |
|
The organization has been formed to: - Provide information, assistance, and resources to families of children with autism;
- Provide support for South Carolina based research and development;
- Promote and raise awareness that one in every 110 births in the United States today is a child with autism and 26,000 of those children and adults live in South Carolina; and
- Educate professionals and the general public.
|
The purpose of the South Carolina Autism Society is to enable all children and adults in South Carolina who have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) to reach their maximum potential.
