WACH FOX (pronounced "Watch FOX") is the FOX affiliate serving Columbia, SC, the 79th television market. This market is in the heart of South Carolina, in the state's capital, serving eleven counties better known as the Midlands. It covers more than 350,000 television households with more than 210,000 households located in our metro counties, Richland and Lexington. |
WACH FOX strongly identifies with a population strongly impacted by three large military installations, nine colleges and more than six hospitals.
WACH FOX is a full-power UHF station that began broadcasting in 1980 as a Christian Independent Station and became a FOX affiliate in 1988. WACH broadcasts its signal on channel 48. The station can also be seen on both DirecTV and DISH Network.
WACH FOX is the home of WACH FOX News at Ten, Columbia's only primetime newscast, which is among the highest-rated late newscasts among FOX affiliates in the country. WACH FOX News at Ten celebrated 10 years of service in the Midlands on March 6, 2005. WACH FOX is also the home of WACH FOX News Good Day, which started in April 2007, and the WACH FOX Report, which started in September 2009.
The station is aggressive in its community service efforts, including "Waiting Child WACH," "Drive for Life" and the annual "Share Your Holiday Food Drive" for Harvest Hope Food Bank, the largest food drive in the state. WACH FOX is committed to providing you with quality shows, such as 24, American Idol, NASCAR, Major League Baseball and the NFL; and syndicated programming, such as The Simpsons, Bernie Mac and Wife and Kids.
WACH FOX is owned by Barrington Broadcast Group, LLC, which also owns WPDE NewsChannel 15 in Myrtle Beach.
